Personal Stories of Children Orphaned by AIDS in Tanzania

It is hard to imagine what it would be like to be left an orphan in a country where very little support exists to help such children. Yet millions of children orphaned by AIDS in Africa live that way every single day. It is a tragic situation that demands the attention of the Western world if these children are ever to be rescued from their suffering.

In terms of raw numbers, the total count of children orphaned by AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa is absolutely devastating. As of 2009, there were some 10 million in countries like Nigeria, Uganda, and South Africa. In Tanzania alone, there are about 1.3 million AIDS orphans.
